The setting is what separates good from great.
Atelier Barnard is one of the only workshops in the Balearics offering master-level diamond setting and micro pavé as its headline craft.
What master setting actually means.
Most jewellers do not set their own stones. The setting work is sent out to a specialist setter, often in another workshop where the piece is one of dozens that week.
At Atelier Barnard, the setter is the maker. Ian sets every stone personally. Micro pavé, channel set, bezel, claw, pavé halo: the technique is matched to the design, not the other way around.
Setting services for private clients.
Beyond full commissions, the atelier takes a small number of setting jobs for private clients: a stone you have sourced elsewhere, a worn setting, or a stone that needs to go back in properly.
A note on the training side.
Ian also runs Setting The Standard, private masterclasses taken by working setters from across the world. The standard the students are tested against is the same standard your piece is held to.

Every piece begins with a conversation.
Most commissions start with a quiet meeting at the workshop on Carrer de Sant Miquel, or a video call. There is no obligation — only an honest assessment of what you have in mind, what it should cost, and what it will take to make it well.
